Clickfunnels Review: Is it Really Legit?

This isn’t going to be your usual Clickfunnels review where you see nothing but praise for the program and then an affiliate link to get it. In fact, I’m not even a promoter of the program (for reasons explained in a moment).

But overall in this review of Clickfunnels, I’m going to cover the most important things you need to know about it, including:

1. If it’s really a scam or if it’s legitimate.
2. How it really works.
3. The pros and cons.
4. How much you can expect to spend if you buy it.
5. And if there’s better alternatives (in my opinion, there is a BETTER option, but more on that later).

The quick overview:

Name: Clickfunnels.
Owner: Russell Brunson.
Pricing: 14 day trial, then $128/month and up to $208/month.
What is it? An online funnel building program.
Is it a scam? No, it’s legit.
Rating: 45 out of 100 points

Do I recommend Clickfunnels? No:

There are 3 particular reasons I am not recommending it:

In my opinion it’s expensive.
You don’t need Clickfunnels to make funnels (there are tons of alternatives, for cheaper prices).
If you’re going to use/promote Clickfunnels, in my opinion you need to be advanced at making money online (making funnels with this program is easy, but the greater funnel process is where it can get tough and potentially expensive, more on that later).

And I say all of this as someone who literally makes a full time income online as an affiliate, makes his own funnels and so forth and understands the business very well.

Better alternatives? Yes (More info on that below).

Back to the Clickfunnels review:

Summary of the program:

Clickfunnels is just a tool that helps people make custom sales funnels for various types of online business. Here are just some of the many funnel options they help you create:

Email marketing funnels.
Affiliate marketing funnels.
Webinar funnels.
And more (screenshot to the right).

Now I run into a lot of people who hear these “buzz terms” but have no idea what they are (funnels, landing pages, etc…), so let me explain this a bit more clearly to help you understand Clickfunnels and it’s uses and the first thing you need to know is what a funnel actually is and here’s the answer to that:

A funnel is just a series of steps (usually 3-4) which starts with you getting visitors to visit a landing page on your website and then steers them to do something you want, like giving you their email, buying an affiliate promotion of yours and so forth.

Now Clickfunnels helps make parts of that funnel, like the landing page and if you’re doing things like trying to funnel people to a webinar.

For example:

I make a Google ad to show up for people trying to lose belly fat.
That ad links to a landing page where I collect people’s emails. Clickfunnels can help me create this.
Then after they sign up, I send them to a secondary landing page that promotes some sort of affiliate offer. Clickfunnels can also help me with this.

So the whole purpose of Clickfunnels in essence is just to help you make landing pages with different marketing purposes. There are a lot of customization options, but in essence this is what it’s purpose is.

Pros:

There is a 14 day free trial.
You can potentially make good money promoting Clickfunnels.
There are success stories of people using Clickfunnels for their own businesses and promoting it.
It has favorable reviews on places like Trustpilot (4.5 out of 5).

Cons:

You can make funnels without Clickfunnels.
There are several alternative programs like Clickfunnels that are cheaper.
In my opinion, advanced people at making money online are better suited for using/promoting Clickfunnels.
If you are a beginner and don’t understand funnels, traffic generation, etc…, then I’d recommend something else.

My final thoughts on Clickfunnels and better alternatives:

Why is Clickfunnels so popular? An inconvenient opinion:

I believe the reason this program is marketed/promoted so much is because it pays it’s affiliates good commissions and that incentive is one of the reasons why so many people say good things about it and to be fair, for many people it may be justified.

But in my opinion, commission incentives often change how people talk about a program (in my experience):

Offer them more and they’ll speak wonders about it.
Offer them little and nothing, and you may get a completely different message.

Clickfunnels is a legit program but it’s not some sort of magic bullet in my opinion for online success (even though I see a lot of affiliates making it sound like it is).

A lot of people think it’s simple as sending traffic through a funnel and boom, making big money, but tthere’s so much more to the process and that’s something a lot of beginners do NOT understand and you may end up spending/wasting a lot of money if you’re not careful.

My bottom line is this: Making funnels is easy, but making funnels make money is where it gets tough/advanced and this is where you NEED to know essentials like traffic generation, how to not waste money, time and so forth.

Point it, if you are a beginner and have no idea how this all works then a program like Clickfunnels isn’t going to magically fix all of that until you actually know these things. There is training to help you learn that sure, but the costs of having Clickfunnels add up.

If you understand all of this stuff, then for sure it can be useful, but since I’m in that field (about me), even then I don’t recommend it because:

You can still make funnels without it and I don’t promote Clickfunnels because of that.
Plus I think it’s just too expensive and not necessary for success online.
This is also why I don’t like promoting or recommending alternative funnel programs (because they are also unnessecary in my opinion).

Alternatives? Yep! Why the Wealthy Affiliate program is my top choice (it’s not a funnel program):

If you’re very new to making money online and building online businesses, the bottom line is you need proper training, tools and help to understand all of this and in my opinion there is no better program to help you do that than Wealthy Affiliate.
