I joined Legendary Marketer (but ended up leaving) and in this review I’m going to cover the most important things you need to know regarding David Sharpe’s program, including:
- If it’s really a scam or if it’s legitimate.
- How it really works.
- The pros and cons.
- How much you can expect to spend if you buy it.
- Why I left.
- And if there’s better alternatives (in my opinion, there is a BETTER option, but more on that later).
The quick overview:
- Name: Legendary Marketer.
- Owner: David Sharpe.
- Pricing: Prices start at $1 and up to several $10,000’s.
- What do you learn? Basically affiliate marketing and paid ads.
- Is it a scam? No, but the prices are too high + my experiences weren’t that positive either.
- Rating: 30 out of 100 points
Do I recommend Legendary Marketer? No:
I do believe Legendary Marketer can teach you to make money online, but there are several problems in my opinion:
- You have to pay a lot to learn this (Up to $10,000+ in some cases).
- I joined the $30/month program and didn’t like my experience (low value, limited access, poor support).
- There are better alternatives that teach the same material for SO MUCH LESS than Legendary Marketer.
Bottom line: I joined Legendary Marketer as an experienced person at making money online and I can tell you for a fact that what they teach you can learn elsewhere and will never have to pay so much to do it. Besides that, I didn’t like my experience and left.
Better alternatives? Yes (More info on that below).
Back to the Legendary Marketer review:
Summary of the program:
Legendary Marketer is a multi layered program that teaches you to make money online and the main method taught is affiliate marketing (promoting other people’s products).
Depending on which course/package you pay for, you will get access to one or more training courses that will teach you this material and more.
From my experiences there and research, much of the training within Legendary Marketer revolves a lot about how to promote high ticket items/courses, and that includes Legendary Marketer itself.
To get started with Legendary Marketer and this training, you have many options/prices. Here are some:
- 15 Day Challenge ($7).
- Legendary Marketer eBook ($9.95).
- Legendary Marketer’s Club ($30 a month, and the one I was a member off).
- Traffic Rolodex ($247).
- Affiliate Business Blueprint ($2,500).
- Digital Products Business Blueprint ($2,500).
- Marketer Mastermind ($8,000).
- Entreprenuer Mastermind ($12,000).
- DFY Brand Builder ($10,000).
- Legendary Leadership Group ($30,000).
- And more.
Note: Prices may change and if you’d like to see the other options, here’s 1 source for that.
Pros:
- I think the training is OK in parts (probably better in the most expensive packages).
- There are success stories.
- Some eBooks and courses are for an affordable price.
- You can earn high ticket commissions promoting Legendary Marketer.
Cons:
- The $30 membership I tried wasn’t amazing (I’d rate it 15 out of 100 points).
- I believe the upsells in this program are outrageous (Up to $10,000 in costs).
- I do not believe you need to pay so much to learn how to succeed online!
- You can learn these same business models for much less (info below).
- I have mixed views on David Sharpe due to his previous program Empower Network.
- I was not happy with the membership experience I had in this program.
- Trustpilot ratings for Legendary Marketer aren’t very high (3.1 out of 5).
- There’s way too many alternatives already to Legendary Marketer that in my opinion are better (and cheaper to try), like Wealthy Affiliate.
My final thoughts on Legendary Marketer (and better alternatives):
In my opinion, Legendary Marketer can teach you to succeed online, but at the same time, the best stuff is likely inside their more expensive courses/packages which again can reach several $1,000s and then $10,000s and I don’t believe you need to spend this much!
Some would argue with me, but I’m an experienced individual in this business who has seen what else is out there and I don’t believe you should pay this much.
Why is Legendary Marketer so popular (an inconvenient opinion):
I believe the reason this program is marketed/promoted so much is because it pays it’s affiliates high ticket commissions and that incentive is one of the reasons why so many people say good things about it and to be fair, it may be justified.
But in my opinion, commission incentives often change how people talk about a program (in my experience):
- Offer them more and they’ll speak wonders about it.
- Offer them little and nothing, and you may get a completely different message.
So why did I leave this program? 3 reasons:
- Crazy prices to proceed further (I don’t think it’s worth it).
- Limited training/value for the $30 a month.
- Poor support in my opinion (screenshot right).
Alternatives? Yep! Why the Wealthy Affiliate program is my top choice:
Wealthy Affiliate also teaches the similar ways to succeed online as Legendary Marketer (affiliate marketing).
But what they specifically help you do is create a profitable website on any passion you have in life through the affiliate marketing model and just as well, other online business models are also taught later on.
Everything I saw and heard about in Legendary Marketer, I have already known about and made money from thanks to Wealthy Affiliate’s training. It’s why I know what Legendary Marketer teaches works, but also why I know you can learn it in better places like Wealthy Affiliate (and for a ton less).
Here’s why it’s better than Legendary Marketer in my opinion:
- It’s free to test drive (no CC needed).
- It’s more beginner friendly.
- Better on YOUR wallet ($0 to try, then $49/month).
- No packaged training: You get everything for 1 low monthly price.
- It teaches multiple ways to do affiliate marketing.
- It has more success stories than Legendary Marketer.
- High Trustpilot rating (4.9 out of 5 stars).
- You get the best support including expert coaching.
- And there’s much more.
Bottom line: You don’t have to invest crazy money with Wealthy Affiliate (or in general to succeed online).
It’s free to test drive and only $49/month if you decide to stick around.
One of the many fallacies I often run into is that because a program is expensive, it means it’s worth it. Perhaps that’s true in certain cases, but with Wealthy Affiliate, you get immense value and you can test drive it risk free first to see that.
Wealthy Affiliate vs Legendary Marketer:
My recommendation? Wealthy Affiliate
(here’s how to get started):
- Join here (its free)
- Complete the set up process which has you create your first passion based website
- Start your training
The value of the Wealthy Affiliate (WA) speaks for itself and if you have any doubt (which is totally normal), test drive them risk free (there’s literally no credit card required).
Here’s what you get when you try the program today (all included):
- Access to the Starter Membership of Wealthy Affiliate.
- Access to the Hubs platform (5 step business set up process)
- A starter course
- Coaching from me, Vitaliy (one of WA’s top experts).
- And much more (join WA today and see it all for yourself)
The program does have an optional upgrade called Premium after the Starter Membership that I do highly recommend, but more than that, I recommend you first:
- Try the Starter Membership (it’s risk free).
- Immerse yourself in the program so you get the most out of it.
- Use my coaching! You can contact me directly inside WA.
Wealthy Affiliate works, but it is also not a get rich quick scheme.
It will teach you how to build a REAL online business of your dreams and if you apply the training they have and work hard, you will become one of it’s MANY success stories.
And frankly speaking, I want to see you do just that. As your coach, one of my goals is to see just hat and I’ll help you along your journey there too).
Thanks for reading my review of Legendary Marketer and if there are ANY questions about either program or mistakes that require corrections, feel free to mention them in the comments below!
Hi there
Also paid the LM starter and was now hit with the huge price for blue prints. That is when I googled alternative options and found this page.
I’m based in South Africa. Will this affect the training or success with WA?
Hi Mari, you can do online marketing from anywhere including South Africa. The only thing that may be an issue is that some affiliate networks may not operate in that country but there’s countless options out there, so if even 1 says no, there’s plenty that will say yes!
Thanks for your review of LM. I have read some of the other questions posted here and noticed that your monthly cost to WA includes one website and that the only other out of pocket expense is a domain name correct? Does the website you purchase in WA come with web hosting, templates, emails and auto responders? Those really start to add up so I am just trying to do some homework before I launch the free trial:) Thanks!
Hi Tammy, so the monthly memberships in WA include a domain (Premium with 1, Premium Plus with 2) and you get hosting, templates and a domain email included. Autoresponders are not included, but if you decide to promote Wealthy Affiliate you can use their email autoresponder to communicate with members you bring into the program. Let me know if you have any further questions!
Hello Vitaliy,
My question is this. I have been watching videos of that other company LM. When I see these gals on tictok promoting the brand for $7, and now your program for $49/mo. (See question below)
Am I paying to promote your brand or am I learning how to do my own blog with hundreds of different affiliate programs through like Impact, etc. I’m just confused on how this integrates with me as a blogger.
Best,
CeCe
Hi Cece, in WA you learn to do both: You can promote whatever products you want from tons of different affiliate programs and/or you can choose to promote WA or whatever else, including Legendary Marketer.
The point is, WA gives you the flexibility and skills to build an online business you want, promoting whatever you want as well. For example, the main training in WA teaches blogging and creating a profitable website on your passions in life, which could be anything (travel, fitness, etc…).
Hope this answers your questions and if not, let me know 🙂
Hi, could you tell me can I start making money from the info I will receive from the small monthly fee on WA?
Or will I need to do the optional upgrades before I see a dime come my way? I have always thought if I could find a genuine site that teaches me how to make money then I would happily pay for other courses giving you your higher ticket commissions.
Is this feasable or am I out thousands before I ever have the chance to see anything come back
Hi Daniel, you don’t need to pay $1,000s to learn all you need to succeed online and with WA that is the case. The free membership helps you get started and the Premium Membership gives you all the training (and much more) to succeed online (no need to pay for extra stuff). It’s only $49/month.
There is a premium plus program on top of this but it’s basically all of premium training + expert classes. Hope this answers your question!
Hi Vitaly,
Like others here on this platform I bought the $7 LM starter as well. As I got further into the training I then realised that I would need to pay for other parts of the “training” that LM would suggest and in the end I became disheartened about the whole programme.
I was online today just researching how to make money online when I saw your review pop up so I decided to click on the review that you did for LM and all I can say is I am glad I decided to do so. I know that I will be clicking the link to take me to sign up with WA and that fact that you yourself is apart of the 7 days free trial gives me reassurance that I can succeed with hard work, time and effort.
Also, will the WA programme work outside the US? I am based overseas so I just wanted to know if I could do this programme where I live.
Thank you for being a ‘straight shooter’ with this information.
Thanks Pauline! Sorry to hear about the LM situation but I’d love to hear what you think of WA when you have a chance! As for your question on if it works outside the US, I’m pretty sure it’s fine for most countries as you can sign up with affiliate networks including big name ones like Amazon internationally (UK for example).
Even in situations where an affiliate network doesn’t accept applications in your country (which is very rare to encounter), you still have more ways to monetize a website and you learn that from the WA program.
I am happy to have found you on here. I did he 15 day challenge with LM and then was hit with the $2500 ticket price and given only 48 hours to decide. I was then told by my coach I should get a credit card to pay for it. I was completely discouraged because I was determined to make it work this time! But I think it is completely irresponsible to put that on a credit card. If I had that kind of money I probably wouldn’t be out looking for extra income. However, I DO need to make it work and maybe Wealthy Affiliate is the answer. So if I were to do this, is there a “blueprint” type thing that will help walk me through getting this done? I am so tired of working and living paycheck to paycheck. I am a single mom that needs to take care of the bills and feed my child and I need to have the freedom to be a parent. Thanks for your information.
Sorry to hear about the LM situation Jana, but I honestly think that WA might be a good alternative for you and you can try them risk free to see if this is the case. Yes they do offer a blueprint and for beginner (starter) members, specifically a 5 lesson course. There is an upgrade available after but you can try the program risk free without any pressure to see if you like it 🙂
I just signed up with Legendary Marketers and I had not idea it was that much money I just completed day four and have only paid out the $7 and I signed up for my 14 day free trial. Now I am serious having second thoughts…….Does this program offer one on one assistance to get started? I don’t mind paying for an online business, I know nothing is free but if I had that much money to invest in a business I would have done it years ago. I like your review and would like to look into this option. There are so many things out there I could be down the rabbit hole for a while.
Hi Kelli, yes we have a lot of 1 on 1 help in Wealthy Affiliate, including from myself. You can try this for yourself risk free (check out WA risk free here) and make your own decision on whether to stick around or not 🙂
I need to get more info
Thanks Bob K
Sure what would you like to know Bob?
Vitaliy, I have to say “THANK YOU!”, I was became very discouraged by the cost of Legendary Marketing. I was literally on Day 5 of the 15 steps when after the 2 hour long video, finally gives you a cost on the program. My heart sank when the least expensive plan was $2500, I had taken notes, spoken to my coach twice, my next appointment is Friday. Then there’s the 48 hours to make a decision. I felt defeated, then something said Google one of the student success stories it took me to Linked In and somehow I found your page approximately 2 minutes later. I am working full time from 2pm-10pm, I do chores around the house during the day and was doing my “assignments” during the night after work and before I would go to sleep. Long story short I am very motivated but lacked the financial resources to just drop $2500 on a business that may or may not work, or take years to produce income that could make the investment a wise productive decision. I very much like your option of a monthly payment (much easier and affordable) and look forward to starting your training.
Charles (St Augustine, FL)
Hi Charles thanks for dropping in and mentioning this! LM isn’t for everyone especially on a tight budget. I think the WA program is a better alternative, both in training, budget and much more!
Hello, I am researching this program and it really does sound a lot easier to learn from and to financially start. Especially if your starting from scratch.
Can you be an affiliate for WA? Is it a high ticket commission?
Thank you for your feedback and reviews.
Hi Brianne, yes WA offers it’s own affiliate program and commission structures range from low-high ticket depending on how long members stay as they are month to month and yearly membership structures.
More importantly than this you don’t have to promote WA if you don’t want and if you have a passion in another topic, their training will help you build an affiliate business on that passion (which I have done among other niche topics).
should I have content and followers before I start or very soon after? It seems I should build a following so I have somewhere to promote what I plan on Promoting. Also, in the trial I see we get one website.
Is this a landing page/funnel/campaign dashboard for the niche I’m promoting? I’ve been looking for a course that will take me thru from newbie to paid affiliate (with money in hand that I’ve made), I almost paid for some, like authority hacker (like it but too expensive for me right now). Tell me straight, if i do this trial, and if I like it and continue monthly, what other costs out of my pocket will I be facing? Be straight with me, if your not i will post my own review, lol, I need to know what to expect. i have a systeme.io funnel page (open but not utilised at all, have done nothing since opening), also have a tiktok business acount(opened but not visited since), do you help with content
Hi Christopher, I tell it straight up like it is and here’s what you need to know:
1) Because you are new, it sounds like you’re hearing a lot of different info about what’s out there and it’s making you buy and try systems that are in fact actually quite advanced.
2) You don’t need followers to start making money online, but when you are new, you do need fundamental things:
A niche topic chosen out, a website, good content to rank and bring in visitors, and then a funnel to promote one or more affiliate products. That is core and once you have that, then you explore the other more advanced methods. That’s how I would do this.
3) Regarding costs in WA, the first membership is free to check out, the ALL training version (premium) is $49 a month and the only other expense you may have (bare minimum) is buying a website domain for $14.99. That’s all you need in terms of online business ingredients, the rest is time, effort and work.
4) I think Wealthy Affiliate will help you isolate a proper fundamental way to start and grow your online business and with that experience, you will be able to make your own decisions later on which programs you need or don’t need. Personally, I don’t use ANY of the other systems you mentioned and set up everything WA taught me.
5) The site you get in WA (the free one) is a blank one which can be anything you want. The goal is to let that blank site through the training become something special according to your vision/niche/goals.
Can you cancel the monthly plan anytime?
Hi William, for Wealthy Affiliate? If so, then yes.
Thank you for this. I got really excited about legendary marketing. It was only $7 to start but then I had to pay for all this extra stuff. I am trying to start a business from home. I don’t have anything to sell. Do I need my own business to start Wealthy Affiliate? Do I need to make my own product and sell it?
Thank you for your time.
Hi Savannah, thanks for your questions and for the answers:
1) You don’t need to have your own business to start with Wealthy Affiliate.
2) You also do not need to have your own product and sell it.
While you CAN do this if that exists, the truth is that Wealthy Affiliate teaches you how to do affiliate marketing in which you promote other people’s products. The business they help you set up is a website on a niche topic you love and that will be your main establishment, but you will promote products you are affiliated with on that website.
I’d give the free trial of Wealthy Affiliate a try here first to see how this all works. No ridiculous high ticket costs either 🙂
