Lurn Review – Is it a Scam or The Real Deal?

I have a lot of experiences with the Lurn program which if you don’t already know if a highly popular website that features many courses and trainings dealing with entreprenuership and making money online.

However, you probably want to know if Lurn is actually the real deal and that’s what this review is going to answer for you including:

  1. If it’s a scam or if it’s legit.
  2. How Lurn works.
  3. The pros and cons.
  4. How much it can really cost.
  5. And if there’s better alternatives to Lurn (which I believe there are).

Before I begin, let me quickly say that Lurn is also a name of a popular online streamer, but this review is about the Lurn program that teaches online business (2 different things). Let’s continue:

The quick overview of Lurn:

  • Name: Lurn (Lurn Nation).
  • Owner: Anik Singal.
  • Pricing: $0-$1,000s depending on which course you get.
  • What do you learn? Lurn provides courses and training to making an online business in many different fields.
  • Is it a scam? No, it’s legit.
  • Rating: 60 out of 100 points.

Do I recommend Lurn? Not really:

Lurn is legitimate, but the 3 main issues I see are:

1) Their best courses are very expensive ($1,000s each in some cases).

2) I wish all of Lurn’s courses were accessible for 1 monthly price, not separate (leading to you having to pay more to learn more).

3) In my opinion, if you’re a beginner, tight on money and don’t know where to start, you might be lost on which course to start with too.

Better alternatives? Yes (More info on that below).

Back to the Lurn review:

Summary of the program:

Lurn is basically a central hub for online business education.

Basically, if there is any type of online business you want to create, there’s a good chance that Lurn has a course that teaches you it. In fact, here are some examples of what Lurn has courses on:

  • Affiliate marketing.
  • List building and lead generation.
  • Local marketing.
  • Selling mugs online.
  • Freelance gigs online.
  • And much more (here is a screenshot of some of their courses):

These courses/programs are taught by experts in their respective fields too so the training you’re getting is from real success stories.

In terms of costs, there are different options offered in Lurn including:

  • Free eBooks which are usually presells to the premium Lurn programs.
  • The main courses/programs in Lurn could be as little as $7Ā  and up $100s or even $1,000’s.

Pros:

  1. Lurn is legitimate.
  2. They have over 100,000 members.
  3. This program has been in business for years.
  4. I have read MANY of their eBooks and like them (for the most part).
  5. I do believe Lurn can help you succeed online.
  6. A wide variety of online business training is provided.
  7. Some of their experts have good reputations online (not all in my opinion).

Cons:

  1. I don’t particularly trust all of their experts (some I disagree with).
  2. Their Trustpilot rating is not very favorable (3.3 out of 5).
  3. In my opinion, many of Lurn’s ads are hyped.
  4. Can get very expensive if you want to learn multiple subjects of online business ($1,000s potentially).
  5. I wish they had an all in one package (for a monthly price) so you don’t have to spend so much to learn their best stuff. Fortunately, there is 1 alternative called Wealthy Affiliate which is similar to Lurn that does (more on that later).

My final thoughts on Lurn:

I happen to like Lurn and believe they can truly help you succeed online. But at the same time, the 3 main issues I indicated earlier are a major obstacle in me personally recommending them. Again, they are:

1) They don’t offer everything for a monthly price (so you have to pay more to learn more).

2) I think it’s very confusing for a beginner to know where to start with Lurn if they’ve never created an online business.

3) The costs add up very quickly if you buy one or more premium courses in Lurn. Here’s an example:

  • Email Startup Incubator (email marketing course): $997 (plus other costs).
  • Printable Profits (selling mugs): $397 (last I checked).
  • Cashwords Formula (SEO + affiliate marketing): $399 x 5 months (Almost $2,000).
  • Birthday Marketing Formula (local marketing course): $697
  • Freelancing Genius (freelance course): $397 x 3 months (Almost $1,000).
  • Total: $5,000+ in costs (and that’s for 5 courses, Lurn has many more).

Sure you can buy one course and maybe that’ll help you build the business you always wanted, but what if it doesn’t suite you or doesn’t work out and you want to buy a different one? That’s another huge cost to consider…

Bottom line: The truth is you don’t need to spend this kind of crazy money to learn online business and I’m about to prove that to you with this:

Alternatives? Yep! Why the Wealthy Affiliate program is my top choice:

Wealthy Affiliate is basically like Lurn (it also offers a wide variety of online business training) with access to experts too, but there’s 3 main reasons I recommend it over Lurn:

1) They are better for beginners because their main training teaches you to build a profitable website on any topic you love in life.

2) They are risk free to test drive, but actually offer a low monthly cost to access ALL of their trainings ($49/month and you save $1,000s this way).

3) They also teach a variety of online business topics so even if the main training isn’t for you, there are many other options available (and expert help to guide if you need help choosing).

Even more reasons I recommend Wealthy Affiliate over Lurn:

  1. Bigger and more helpful community (2.5 million members).
  2. WA has more success stories than Lurn.
  3. You get even better expert help/coaching in my opinion.
  4. 4.9 out of 5 rating on Trustpilot (Lurn is 3.3 out of 5).
  5. And there’s much more.

Bottom line: You don’t have to invest crazy money on separate courses with Wealthy Affiliate.

Simply put: You can get it all for 1 low monthly price and before you even do that, you can test drive the program risk free to see if you like it. If you do, then try the Premium membership ($49/month) where you get all the training. There is also another level beyond that but the $49/month is in my opinion the best for most people.

A side by side comparison of Wealthy Affiliate vs Lurn:

My recommendation? Wealthy Affiliate (here’s how to get started):

The value of the Wealthy Affiliate (WA) speaks for itself and if you have any doubt (which is totally normal), test drive them risk free (there’s literally no credit card required).

Here’s what you get when you try the program today (all included):

  • Access to the Starter Membership of Wealthy Affiliate.
  • 10 lesson getting started course.
  • 1 website included.
  • 7 day access to the WA community (help/support).
  • 7 days coaching from me, Vitaliy (one of WA’s top experts).
  • And much more (join WA today and see it all for yourself).

As I mentioned before, the program does have an optional upgrade called Premium and Premium Plus after the Starter Membership that I do highly recommend (Premium is usually more than enough for most), but more than that, I recommend you first:

  • Try the Starter Membership (it’s risk free).
  • Immerse yourself in the program so you get the most out of it.
  • Use my 7 day coaching! You can contact me directly inside WA.

Wealthy Affiliate works, but it is also not a get rich quick scheme.

It will teach you how to build a REAL online business of your dreams and if you apply the training they have and work hard, you will become one of it’s MANY success stories.

And frankly speaking, I want to see you do just that. As your coach, one of my goals is to see just hat and I’ll help you along your journey there too).

Thanks for reading my review of Lurn and if there are ANY questions about either program, feel free to ask me in the comments below!

  1. Thanks for your information, wish I had seen it before joining Lurn, but will work with it and see where it takes me. Maybe join the Wealthy Affliate later.

    • Hi Michelle, no problem at all. I know Lurn has a lot of good stuff to offer, but if you ever change your mind, you at least have a plan B and if that’s the case, it would be great to see you in Wealthy Affiliate! Regardless, I wish you all the best in Lurn šŸ™‚
